Where healthcare AI gets messy

Data quality and context are constant problems. Records are incomplete. Coding varies. Populations differ. A model trained in one hospital, insurer, or country may behave badly somewhere else. Bias is not theoretical here either. If the training data under-represents certain groups or encodes historic disparities, the outputs can quietly reinforce them.

There is also the workflow problem. A technically impressive model can fail because it arrives at the wrong moment, produces alerts no one trusts, or adds extra friction to already overworked clinicians. If it does not fit practice, it does not matter how good the benchmark scores look on a slide.
